If you have little or no knowledge of ancient Greece, this book from Hourly History will help. As promised, this will be accomplished in an hour or less.Some of the sections appeared to have little more than a quick overview, although this was made up for with the information about the wars between the city-states as well as the wars with the Persians and the city of Troy. The author also includes chapters on literature, philosophy, art and architecture, as well as science.At times the writing is disjointed, and the flow is not smooth. A series of sentences in the first chapter illustrate what I mean: "Mount Olympos was the home of the gods, so it was fitting the have the best seats...Zeus was the ruler of these Olympian gods...The group of gods who called the mountain their home were known as the Olympians." The writing is okay, it is just choppy in parts.Overall, not a bad offering from Hourly History. If you lack basic knowledge of the history of Greece, this would be an acceptable place to start.
Overall I like the e-book Ancient Greece: A History From Beginning to End, but the book was too ambitious for the breath of material that it tried to cover. One of the objectives of the book is to demonstrate how ancient Greek influences the culture of the world today. After the e-book discusses some of the histories of the Olympic events, it describes the history and relationship between the various Greek gods. The book explains the meaning of “polis,†the governance of the various city states, and some of their leaders. 6% of the book discusses ancient Greek literature. Next philosophy is discussed followed by discussions about ancient Greek art and architecture and lastly by science in the ancient Greek context. I think the author should have selected any one of the areas that they discussed and developed an hourly history on any part they wanted. I recommend this book for anyone that’s interested in a rushed overview of how various topics from ancient Greece affects our present life.
Another successful effort from Hourly History.The Greeks sure opened up many doors for future occurrences for years to follow.Strange how humans have felt a need for a god (or gods) to explain everything.To be really picky - just needed some tightening up of the prose to enhance the readers' experience.

It appears to be a very credible summary of the history of greece and her contributions to world knowledge. It is worth reading more than once because the names and facts are difficult to recall. You can use this book as an introduction to a more in depth study.

Total waste of time & money - a 140 page phamplet (enormous font) collection of drivel - It didn't even bother to have page numbers. I'm surprised that Amazon even allowed this piece of crap to be sold from their site
